Does anyone else use “Marie Kondoing” as a verb?
Because we do in our house and here’s how it all started.
After a late night binge watching of Marie Kondo, Jason and I woke up and started clearing out our house like crazy people. No closet, drawer or pantry was left behind…you name it, if it didn’t “spark joy”, it was donated.
Later that month, on a snowy afternoon, we all piled in the car and headed to the mall for something to do. We were walking by a store and a cute shirt caught my eye. Jason said “why don’t you just get it?”
I thought for a second, and said “nah, I don’t love it”.
Jason joked, “ it doesn’t spark enough joy for you??”
“Nope,” I said “it really doesn’t”.
It started as a bit of a joke, but that phrase has completely changed how we spend our money.. If it doesn’t spark real joy, then we don’t buy it. We have completely “Marie Kondoed” our spending!
Flash forward to 2020 and while in quarantine I took that concept of marie-kondoing my money to a whole new level and created the Spending Edit.
