From a recent list compiled by our friends at MoneySense Magazine, we wanted to share three of the most interesting, high earning jobs that could take your career from zero to hero within a year. Might be time to start thinking out of the box!
Career #1: Air Traffic Controller
Where to begin:
Get initial testing through the Federal Aviation Administration http://www.faa.gov/ or NAV Canada http://www.navcanada.ca. Once you’ve passed the initial skill tests, your training can take anywhere from four to 14 months. Depending on the state or province where you are trained, passing your program could mean a guaranteed job after you graduate.
Salary Range: Salaries start around $60,000 and can increase to as much as $125,000 per year.
Career # 2: Welder
Where to begin:
Register for a one-year certificate at your local college or trade school.
Salary Range:
Apprentice salaries being around $30,000 but increase to the $90,000 range once you earn your ticket as a journeyman.
Career #3: Web Designer
Where to begin:
Register for a streamlined one-year web design program at through your local college or design school.
Salary Range:
Starting work as a web designer ranges from $45,000 – $50,000. The work may start in web support and smaller design projects. But with time and experience, and access to additional side work, annual salaries can easily exceed $60,000.
